From Out of Town to Up Our Street
Saturday 21st November is ‘Swap a Shop’ day in Saltash. We want you to try swapping an out of town shop for one in Fore Street. You will be surprised just what you can get and that things don't have to cost more if you use smaller independent shops. In fact we hope you will have a more enjoyable and social shop, finding some bargains at the same time.
Also in Fore Street will be the monthly Saturday morning Meet Your Town Councillors stall, and Saltash Environmental Action will be holding one of their popular Live Music to Shop By sessions.
Don’t forget to bring your SALTASHCARD for discount in over 20 shops. The SALTASHCARD is Saltash’s own discount loyalty card and costs just £2, from the Guildhall, Library or the Bookshelf. There are plenty of shops in the scheme from ‘Rooms’ and ‘Firepower’ selling furniture and fireplaces, to ‘Palfreys’, ‘Cornish Farm Produce’ and ‘Evans’ selling everyday essentials.
The scheme was launched to help promote our shops and encourage you to use them. We all want an interesting and vibrant town centre, something that many towns are losing with more out of town developments and as the recession bites. We don't want that, and we want you to save money at the same time.
On the 21st we will also launch a list of products and produce that come from our immediate area. These products may be arts and crafts items, or pictures and paintings. There will be food from local farms, maybe some beer from our local Saltash brewer. Please support these as you will not only be supporting local businesses but their local suppliers too. A real win win. You could also end up with a very unique Christmas present for someone.
The SALTASHCARD scheme is supported by the Town Council and SEA, who are compiling the list of local products. SEA will be continuing their theme of ‘Music while you shop’ on the same day, why not come and enjoy a very sociable experience. You can all help main our town better.
